Night Time Alleyway (Inspired by Atami, Japan)

After a couple of months of work with a long hiatus in between, my latest environment is complete!

Atami was the first city outside of Tokyo I went to during my trip to Japan in the mid-late spring of 2023 and the tight alleyways that flank the busy shopping arcades of Atami Station were oddly charming to me. I would love to go back again whenever I get the chance.

I had a lot of fun blocking out and creating assets for this environment. 90% of the assets were made by myself and the other 10% were from the Quixel Library. Originally supposed to be a day scene with overcast weather to match the weather when I was there, I received valuable advice from an environment artist to try out a night scene for more interesting lighting. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to lighting a scene.
